Top brands for fitted shirts.

By now you probably have a good understanding of the difference between a regular t-shirt and a fitted shirt as well as how to make a fitted shirt. This time however, it’s time we learned some of the brands known for these tailored shirts. Let’s take our fashion to the next level!

Nimble Made is a men’s clothing brand founded in 2008 by Asian-American entrepreneurs. While the brand offers other clothing items such as ties and dress socks, the primary offering from the business is slim fit shirts. As we can see from the picture above, there is so much detail that goes into making one of the shirts. Overall, the shirt is trimmed and tailored everywhere to provide comfort while still being stylish.

Our next brand will be Nordstrom, a popular clothing store at your local mall. Nordstrom prides itself on being a high quality brand. Part of their men’s selection includes a line of slim fit shirts cleverly named “Trim Fit”. Their shirts are not only stylish but made of 100% cotton. With that said, Nordstrom may not be the most affordable brand although you will get your money’s (and quality’s) worth!

The final brand we’re looking at today is Banana Republic. They offer a wide selection of clothes ranging from shoes and sweatshirts to slim fit shirts. Banana Republic is known for being a very modern and stylish brand. In particular for men that are tall and thin (such as myself) this is a brand that provides shirts tailored to fit well while also looking casual and presentable.

Now that you know some of these brands, which brand is your favorite? These brand can be found here or you can find them at their websites nimble-made.com,  nordstrom.com and bananarepublic.gap.com respectively.

Creating your OWN fitted shirt!

Now that we’ve established what types of fitted shirts there are, it’s time to kick things up a notch! Today’s blog will explain how to create a fitted shirt by yourself. Without further ado, let’s begin!

To start, you’re going to need two shirts. Start by cutting the sleeves off the shirt you want to make fitted. Do not dispose the sleeves as we will be using them again later. For the next part you’re going to fold the shirt in half and make sure everything lines up. Now you will use the other (smaller) shirt to outline the cut for the shirt you want fitted. Fold the sleeves of the smaller shirt and connect the lines from top to bottom. Carefully line up the smaller shirt with your cut sleeves and make the seem. You will then line up the cut sleeves on top of each other and cut along the seem. Cut the sides of the shirts along the dotted line before moving on to the next step.

For the final part, you will need your sowing kit. With the shirt folded, you will slowly pin your shirt from the bottom up. Next, begin with the bottom of your shirt and use the sowing machine to sow and remove the pins as needed. To sow the sleeves, pinch them together and make sure no other parts are being sowed into the shoulder. Finally, sow the open edge at the top of the shirt and now you have a NEW fitted shirt!

Sound confusing? Don’t you worry! Simply follow this video and enjoy your new shirt! What did you think of this blog? Did you enjoy making your shirt or did you find it difficult. Leave a comment down below and I’ll see you next time!

Fashion, particularly women’s fashion is constantly evolving. Women are eager to see what all of these designers and brand companies come up with next. The fitted shirt gives her a chic look that is not only visually appealing but radiates a confident women! She exemplifies a classy look perfect for multiple occasions such as a job interview or dinner at a nice restaurant.

Here we have another fit top courtesy of Hawes & Curtis. Both women look beautiful and confident with their outfits but what’s the difference? I’m glad you asked! The first woman’s top is more chic while the woman in the second picture has a shirt that is more casual. What we see from these pictures is that fitted shirts don’t have to be athletic wear. Fitted vs Slim Fitted, Which one is right for you?

Some of you may be surprised to know this but not all fitted shirts are the same. Even I was unaware for a long time! But courtesy of Tapered, we know that most fitted shirts can be categorized as fitted or slim fitted. Let's take a look at some examples!

Starting with the regular fitted shirt, this is what most people will wear. Regular fitted shirts are meant to be tight while still providing comfort to those who wear them. There is a lot of room in the arm holes to provide the needed comfort. These types of shirts are better fitted for athletes. Below is what your usual fitted shirt would look like.

Now let's move on to the slim fit! The slim fit as the name would imply is a type of fitted shirt that people with slim figures tend to wear. This is also the shirt that those with a muscular figure will tend to wear as well. The key difference between a regular fitted shirt and a slim fit is that the slim fit is much tighter around the arms. As mentioned on The Fashionisto, one of the benefits of this shirt is for aesthetic purposes for slim and muscular people to feel and look bigger. As someone on the slimmer side, this is the type of shirt I would wear.

Now that you know the difference, which fitted shirt is right for you? Be sure to leave a comment down below! You can find both of these shirts on Lyst at lyst.com.
