Creating your OWN fitted shirt!

Now that we’ve established what types of fitted shirts there are, it’s time to kick things up a notch! Today’s blog will explain how to create a fitted shirt by yourself. Without further ado, let’s begin!

To start, you’re going to need two shirts. Start by cutting the sleeves off the shirt you want to make fitted. Do not dispose the sleeves as we will be using them again later. For the next part you’re going to fold the shirt in half and make sure everything lines up. Now you will use the other (smaller) shirt to outline the cut for the shirt you want fitted. Fold the sleeves of the smaller shirt and connect the lines from top to bottom. Carefully line up the smaller shirt with your cut sleeves and make the seem. You will then line up the cut sleeves on top of each other and cut along the seem. Cut the sides of the shirts along the dotted line before moving on to the next step.

For the final part, you will need your sowing kit. With the shirt folded, you will slowly pin your shirt from the bottom up. Next, begin with the bottom of your shirt and use the sowing machine to sow and remove the pins as needed. To sow the sleeves, pinch them together and make sure no other parts are being sowed into the shoulder. Finally, sow the open edge at the top of the shirt and now you have a NEW fitted shirt!
